three encaustic works by Lucy Warlick

Easy Encaustics Workshop with Lucy Warlick

Lucy Warlick, whose solo show is in our gallery until June 12th, is offering a two-hour course in what she calls Easy Encaustics, a process of her own making, as far as she knows, involving wax crayons, old magazine pages and a surprising source of heat popular in the seventies—a warming tray. Lucy says she can’t stop making these casual artworks and thinks others will also enjoy this unique way of hacking the encaustic process.

  • Date: Saturday, June 6, 2026
  • Time: 10:30 am – 12:30 pm
  • Cost: $45 for members. $50 for non-members
  • What you will learn: whether you are a professional artist or a complete novice, the process can polish or engender certain creative skills including good composition, color choice, figure drawing, and shape and line. But the greatest thing about this course is the feeling you’ll get from years ago when you sat down with crayons; only this time you’ll be, if you’re like Lucy, instead of being disappointed in your efforts, will be blown away with what you’re created.
  • Supplies: All supplies included!
