Gateways to the South art competition is on view now thru Nov 2, 2018

Michael Grady, professor of studio art at Appalachian State University was our judge.

Mr. Grady said the artwork was the  “best overall quality I’ve seen in years having a good balance of traditional nature scenes along with weathered architecture and geometry – barns, boats, houses, etc.”

Prizes were awarded at our reception on Saturday, October 6, 2018.

First Place – Fred Mead for his glass sculpture “Sunset Over Vicksburg”.
Second Place – James Norman for his oil painting “Christ Church”.
Third Place – Rosie Little for her oil painting “Lake Lure”.

Merit Award – Lynne Parker – photography Fishing on a Summer Evening
Merit Award – Susan Walker – acrylic painting Perseverance (Landsford Canal)
Merit Award – Alex Pietersen – photography – Drafty
