CALL TO ARTISTS
for I Am Woman 2022 Art Exhibit and Competition
Take in of Art Extended to Monday, Feb 28 from 12-5 pm, and Tuesday March 1 from 10 am to 3 pm
Southern Arts Society (SASi) is calling for artists to enter our annual show I Am Woman with artwork that speaks to womanhood, the feminine experience or perspective, women’s issues, or the essence of being a woman.
Artwork will be judged for cash prizes. Please see the attached entry form for specifications and rules to submit work. Both women and men may submit entries. All entries will be displayed unless they do not meet the criteria specified in the entry form. Entry fees apply.
Artwork should be delivered to SASi on Saturday, February 26 from 10 am to 4 pm and Sunday, February 27 from 1-4 pm. A public reception will be held Saturday, March 12 from 6-8 pm, with awards presented at 7 pm.
Prospectus and Information
GENERAL: Artwork should speak to womanhood, the feminine experience or perspective, women’s issues, or the essence of being a woman.
ELIGIBILITY: All work Must be Your Original Creation (not under copyright by another artist) and completed within the last two years. Artwork must remain the duration of the exhibit. This is a judged exhibit. All entries will be displayed unless they do not meet the criteria specified below. Art must be presented in a professional manner. Inadequately prepared art or artwork requiring special installation may be declined.
FEE: (non-refundable) $20 members, $25 non-members, for two entries. Additional entries $5 each for members, $10 each for non-members (5 total). SALES and PRICING: SASi will retain 30% Commission from all sales by Members, and 40% from all sales by Non-members. Artists will be paid for work sold following the close of exhibition. Work may be listed not for sale.
SPECIFICATIONS: All work must be original, completed within the last two years. Painting (oil, watercolor, acrylic, pastel), drawing, sculpture, printmaking, photography, mixed media and fiber are eligible. Two-dimensional work is restricted to 48″ by 48″ including frame. (Larger work may be accepted depending on gallery space.) Works on paper (including photography) must be framed and protected by glass or Plexiglas. All work must be properly framed or gallery wrapped (sides properly finished), and wired for hanging. Mats must be neat and clean (no signatures or titles on the mat). Fiber art must be ready to hang, with a rod supplied by the artist.
Three-dimensional work is limited to 2’x2′ of floor space, less than 6′ tall and weigh less than 50 lbs. Three-D work Must sit solidly on a flat surface or be properly mounted for hanging. The following will NOT be accepted: wet paint or inks, reproductions, giclees, or copies. Unacceptable framing includes: clip frames, saw-tooth hangers, staples, string or tape.

AWARDS: 1st Place – $250 • 2nd Place – $150 • 3rd Place – $75 • Merit Awards (3) – $50 each
