Three Voices – Three Views: Landscape Painters Kathleen McDermott – Kim Painter – Gene Tennison

Art Exhibit Sep 2 – Oct 31, 2026

Reception Sat Sep 26, 5-7 pm – Artists Gallery Talk at 6 pm

Three artists have come together to exhibit their landscape paintings, each offering a distinct lens through which to experience their environment. Kim, Kathleen and Gene all shared a love for art early on in their lives, taking time away – sometimes years – for work and family life, then later returning to painting to express how they see the world. Here, on canvas, they weave together three divergent styles, the meticulous clarity of realism; the lush, light-filled brushwork of impressionism; and the emotional resonance of semi-abstraction. They remind us that a landscape is more than a place. It is a feeling, a record of time, and a living dialogue between the land and the observer.

Spanning over 30 works of varying scales, this exhibition fills the galleries at Southern Arts Society with the beauty of our natural world. From intimate studies to sweeping vistas, these pieces capture the fleeting moments that define our surroundings.
