Colored Pencil Exhibit
On view through August 2 – September 5, 2025
Seven members of the Colored Pencil Club at Southern Arts Society (SASi) have their work on view in the galleries now through September 6, 2025. Participating artists are Todd Baxter, Janet Dyer, Rob Dyer, Darlene Godfrey, Lori McAdams, Terry Ratchford and Alicia Robinson. These featured artists have been working in colored pencils for some time, amassing a high degree of skill and expertise. Many have won awards in this medium. Todd Baxter, for instance, has exhibited and won awards with the Colored Pencil Society of America and was a finalist in the 2024 Richeson 75 Figure/Portrait Competition & Exhibition. Todd excels at both colored pencil and painting in oil.
While the artwork is done primarily in colored pencil, some pieces include a small amount of watercolor, collage, ink or other media. You will find a variety of subject matter in the exhibit – portraits, landscapes, still life, wildlife and whimsical creatures to capture your attention.
Colored pencil is one of the fastest growing media to work in due to the low cost of supplies to get started. Supplies are compact enough to easily carry with you and work from anywhere, whenever you have free time. Your creativity is only limited by your imagination.
If you would like to learn more, the Colored Pencil Club meets the last Thursday monthly from 6 to 8 pm at Southern Arts Society (SASi). Bring your own supplies and current project to work on. Todd Baxter leads the group with sharing information, ideas and advice on working in colored pencils. This is a free program. You do not have to be a member of SASi to attend.
